Obituary for Carrie Terry (Holmes)
I have walked in the pathway of duty. I have walked til the close of the day. Now I shall see the great King in his beauty. Because with God, I have gone the last mile of the way.
On Monday, December 18, 2017 at approximately 7:25am, Sister Carrie Mae Holmes-Terry was granted eternal rest at the Canon Hospice Facility in Metairie, LA surrounded by her family and friends. Sister Carrie was born on August 1, 1953 to the late Willie Holmes, Sr. and the late Josephine Richard-Stevenson in McCrea, LA. She confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Mount Salem Baptist Church, McCrea, LA, under the leadership of the late Rev. Earnest Lea, Sr. She served faithfully until she moved to New Orleans, LA and joined the Second Zion Baptist Church II, where she served faithfully until she was called home to rest. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Erroll Terry, Sr. and to this union, two sons were born. She leaves to cherish her memory, son Erroll Terry, Sr.(Beverly); four grandsons, Ricky Terry, Jr., Tony, Brian and Patrick Gales; granddaughter, Lyric Terry; nine sisters, Margaret(Louis), Glender Holmes-Long(Larry), Doris, Patricia Holmes-Smith, Vivian(Gerald), Linda(William), Debbie(Vernon), Patricia and Glenda Stevenson; seven brothers; Walter, John(Jeanette), Ronnie(Duana), Kelvin(Shawna), Charles Ray(Beryl), Willie Holmes, Jr.(Mary) and Anthony(Myra); godson, Germaine Allen; one uncle and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews relatives and friends. Sis. Carrie was preceded in death by step mother, Georgia Mae Holmes; son Ricky Terry, Sr.; sisters Carolyn, Aretha and Gloria; maternal and paternal grandparents.
All are invited to a homegoing celebration on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from Second Zion Baptist Church II, 3333 Third Street, New Orleans, LA 70125, for 10:00AM. Visitation from 8:00AM until service time, Rev. Dr. Morris Hubbard. Pastor Earnest Salsberry, officiating. Entombment, Providence Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 8200 E. Airline Drive. Metairie, LA.
