Elton Oubre Sr.
On Saturday, April 14, 2018 Elton “Tee-Tone” Oubre, a native of Vacherie, LA entered into his eternal rest. He was born on September 26, 1926 to his loving parents the late Joseph Sr. and Hilda Oubre. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Agnes Boudoin Oubre of 70 years and their seven children. Elton was a dedicated member of St. Philip Catholic Church where he served as an usher and a member of The Knights of Peter Claver – Council 161. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Remembrances of Elton will live forever in the hearts of his wife Agnes and children: Evangeline (Allen) Cox, Elton Jr (Patricia) Oubre, Gwendolyn Oubre, Marilynn (Marzette) Payne, Earl (Mary) Oubre, Cynthia (Michael) Grows and Davis (Ingrid) Oubre. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grand-children; a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, family and friends. He will be missed by his devoted friends– Lawrence Alexis and Lester Chopin. Elton also leaves to cherish: Sister Dora Saul and Brother Joseph Jr. (Rachel) Oubre and a host of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. In addition to his parents, Elton was preceded in death by daughter, Evelina Oubre Brown, grandson, Jasen Hamilton, mother and father in law; Louis and Virginia Boudoin; brothers John (Theresa) Oubre, and Warren (Audrey) Oubre, brother in law Edmund Saul and a host of other sisters-in-law.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11 AM from St. Philip Catholic Church, 1175 Highway 18, Vacherie, LA 70090. Father Matthew McCaughey, celebrant. Visitation will begin at 9 AM. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, 2349 Highway 18, Edgard, LA 70049.
