Obituary for Paul Anthony Vampran

Paul Anthony “Sarge” Vampran departed this life on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the age of 78, where he resided at the Louisiana State Veterans Home in Jackson, La. He was the second born to the late Anthony Paul and Alma Placide Vampran. Born on March 16, 1940, he was a native of Reserve, La., and a resident of Lawton, Oklahoma. He is survived by: two children, Yevette (Josh) Barnes of Kenner, La., and Kenneth Vampran of Kissimee, Florida; three grandchildren: Duane, DaNajae and Kenneth Vampran; two sisters, Joyce V. James of Darrow, La. and Susan V. Simon of Reserve, La.; two brothers, John Vampran of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Alfred (Hilda) Vampran of Houston, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Odrie (Ronald) Nicholas of LaPlace, La. and Gladys Jackson of Reserve, La.; three brothers-in-law, Larry Cook of Reserve, La., Dwayne Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida, and Adonise Johnson of Oakland, California. Three God children, Mary Catherine Felton, Cyril Green, and Gloria Dean Keller Ferrygood. Devoted friends Milton Bossier, Brenda Joseph, Rose Ann Cook, Laura Jones, Nathaniel Woodard, M.J. Creecy, Junius Banks and Michael Lipps. He is preceded in death by his late wife Inez Johnson Vampran, his parents, a brother Vincent Ralph Vampran, sisters-in-law Emma Cook and Winnie Coleman, and two brothers-in-law, Oscar Johnson, Jr., and Wilfred Simon. Paul retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of dedicated service. This included two tours of duty in Vietnam. He worked for Goodyear Tire Plant for fifteen years; he was a school bus driver for ten years. He later joined the Buffalo Soldiers, Lawton, Oklahoma Chapter, where he served as a Color Guard and Secretary. He was a devout member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he served as an Usher.
All relatives, friends and surrounding church members, are invited to attend the Mass of Resurrection on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 10:00am. Visitation begins at 8:00am, Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 780 Hwy 44 in Reserve, La., Fr. Christopher Amadi, SSJ, Pastor, Officiating.
Arrangements entrusted to Treasures of Life Funeral Home, 315 East Airline Hwy, Gramercy, La. 70052. Interment at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma. May his soul forever rest in peace.
