THE LIFE STORY OF ANGELA STEIB

Angela Louise Landry Steib was born on July 11, 1957, to the late Huey Parker Landry, Sr. and Ethel Mae Farlough. She was also the beloved stepdaughter of Clarence Armont, Sr. On November 8, 2025, Angela peacefully departed this life to enter her eternal rest.

At the age of ten, Angela accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized by Rev. Dennis Johnson, Pastor of King Triumph Baptist Church, in the Mississippi River. Her lifelong love for the Lord guided her steps and shaped her ministry.

Angela was united in holy matrimony to Hilton Steib, Jr. on May 9, 2009. She was the devoted mother of two sons, the late Derwin Porter and Kinley Porter, Jr., and the loving stepmother of Gionne Steib and Tyra Batiste (Wallace). She was also blessed with three grandchildren—Destin, Alonzo, and Jakinzey—and one great-granddaughter, Khloe.

Called by God to preach the gospel, Angela was licensed to preach on June 4, 1995, and ordained on March 30, 2007, by Rev. Ferdinand Gaines, Jr. at First Community Antioch Baptist Church (FCABC). Under the leadership of Pastor Steven Dale Beckham, she faithfully served as a teacher, leader, and minister. She directed the Girls’ Bible Study (Grades 7–12) within the Youth Believing in Christ Ministry, facilitated the Discipleship Hour small group, and served as Director of both the Women’s Ministry and Christian Education. She also was a member of Good Children Benevolent Society.

Angela received her early education through the St. James Parish School System. Her biblical training included studies at Union Baptist Theological Seminary and participation in numerous E.K. Bailey Expository Preaching Conferences. She earned two certificates in Biblical Teaching and Biblical Studies through the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in partnership with FCABC. She went on to complete her undergraduate degree in Christian Ministry and her master’s degree in Biblical Studies and Christian Education through the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Those left to cherish her precious memory include her devoted husband, Hilton Steib, Jr.; her son, Kinley (Kawana) Porter, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Porter; stepdaughters, Gionne Steib and Tyra Batiste (Wallace); her mother, Ethel Farlough Armont; sisters, Pamela Price (Nathan), Cheryl Moll (Gene), Allison Criddle (Kevin), and Karen Landry; brothers, Huey Landry, Jr. and Adrian Landry; stepbrothers, Conrad W. Armont and Corey Armont; Sister-in-law Doris Steib, Rita (Robert) Charles, Vincent (Emily) Steib, Sr., Joseph Raymond Steib, Sr., Joseph Preston (Bridgette) Steib, Sr., and Christine (Marlis) Fletcher; and godchildren, Christina Jack and Terrance Stewart. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Huey Landry, Sr, fraternal grandparents, Viola Richardson and Emile Landry, maternal grandparents, Earnest Farlough (Farlow) and Alice Smith Farlough, son, Derwin R. Porter, stepbrother, Clarence Armont, Jr.; brother-in-law Hamilton Steib, Sr. and nephew, Coty Foreman.

Reverend Steib was deeply humbled that God chose her to serve in His ministry. She walked faithfully in the calling placed upon her life and often testified that it was only by God’s grace that she endured life’s ups and downs. She found great joy in the timeless hymns of the church—especially “Just a Closer Walk with Thee,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Remember Me.” Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5–6, which guided her steps:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”

Above all, Reverend Angela Louise Landry Steib desired to be known simply as a servant of God—one who sought to imitate Christ in her daily walk and to glorify Him through her life and ministry.
