On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, Arkeen Mark Oubre gained his wings at Our Lady of the Lake\nHospital at the age of 37. Born on August 24, 1984, he was the son of Leonette Mercadel and the late\nBruce Thomas Oubre.\n\nArkeen was raised in Vacherie and Gretna, Louisiana. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in\n2003 and was a member of the Air Force ROTC. He was honorably discharged from the United States\nNavy on April 23, 2012.\n\nArkeen will be fondly remembered for his infectious laugh by his mother, Leonette Mercadel; son Saint;\ndaughter, Dejah; siblings, Carlos, Michael, Arthur, Jr. (Amber), Clarissa and Octavia; aunts: Janessa P. Oubre, Jocelyn Ernest, Margaret Mathieu, Florence Mercadel, and Kimberly Stovall; uncles: Leon and Emile Mercadel and Victor Bailey, and stepfather, Arthur Wallace, Sr. Arkeen is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\n\nHe was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Thomas Oubre; maternal grandparents, Janice Joseph and Leon Mercadel; paternal grandparents, Paul Ergan Oubre and Eva Mae Weber Oubre and sister,\nMarquita. \n\nA mass of Christian burial will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 6613 LA-18, Saint James, LA 70086 on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 11am.
