Betty Ann Costley Dennis, a native of Vacherie, LA, departed this life on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the age of 63. She was born on October 6, 1957, to the union of the late Benny and Shirley Costley, Jr. On April 11, 1971, Betty was baptized by the late Rev. Maxwell Cage, Sr. at First Baptist Church of Vacherie. She served as an usher, devoted Sunday School teacher and faithful director of the youth department. She was also a dedicated member of the Christian organization, "Friends in Christ."\n\nShe was a 1976 graduate of St. James High School and a 1980 graduate of "THE" Southern University.\nFor over 30 years, she worked at Waterford 3 Nuclear Plant of Killona, LA. She was always happy and smiling, and willing to help others. On July 21, 1984, she was united in marriage to Calvin Dennis. From their union came three beautiful daughters whom she loved dearly.\n\nBetty was a faithful servant. She served at home, on her job, in her church and within the community. She loved all people, especially the youth of St. James Parish. The phrase, "if I can help somebody" radiated from inside of her. Betty never met a stranger. She greeted everyone with a beautiful smile and loving spirit. Betty lived by her favorite bible verse, John 3:16. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."\n\nBetty was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eyes. Betty leaves to cherish her many loving memories her husband, Calvin Dennis; three daughters, Uanya Dennis-Bethancourt (Shawn) of Wallace, LA, Jaleesa Dennis (Donrielle Sr.) of Vacherie, LA, Caitlin Paige Dennis of Metairie, LA; five grandchildren, Freddie and Ashanti Albert, Donrielle Jr., Madison and Ryan Broden; three sisters, Judy C. Carey (Andy) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Renette C. Morton of Laplace, LA, Barbara A. Costley of Baton Rouge, LA and one brother Benny Costley, III of Vacherie, LA; sisters-in-law, Judy Washington-Costley, Vivian (Curtis Sr.) Bazile of Harvey Louisiana, Leona Watson of San Francisco, Ca, and Willie Mae (Wilton) Marshall of San Francisco, Ca; two Godchildren, Andrew Dennis Jr. and Shaylan Washington, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She also leaves to cherish her great-aunt and Godmother Emily Joseph Williams.\n\nBetty is preceded in death by her parents, Benny and Shirley Joseph-Costley, Jr.; brother, John Joseph Costley; grandson Calvin Connor Dennis; paternal grandparents, Benny Sr. and Isabella Jacobs-Costley; maternal grandparents, John & Olivia Zeno-Joseph; father and mother-in-law, George and Aldonia Lewis-Dennis.\n\nA graveside memorial honoring the life of Sister Betty will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Vacherie, LA.\n\nIn Lieu of flower donations, to honor Betty, donations can be sent to FRIENDS IN CHRIST.
