"We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." II Corinthians 5:8\n\nCassiana "Cat" Porter entered this world on April 29, 1964 to the parentage of Ethel Mae "Mae Mae" Porter and Henry "Mickie" Clark. Her brother Henry was born a year later shortly after their father was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Viola Clark Williams, her stepmother, stepped in after her husband's death and played a crucial role in Cat's upbringing, education and overall well-being. \n\nCat grew up in Lutcher and New Orleans. She attended the public schools in both places. She graduated from Lutcher High School in 1983. Cat furthered her education by obtaining her CNA Certification in 1991 at the Medical Career Institute. She was a dedicated employee of River Parishes Hospital and Kenner Regional Hospital until her health declined in 2014. \n\nCat accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a teenager and was baptized by Rev. Versey Michael at New Zion Baptist Church (currently known as New Zion Christian Center). She enjoyed attending church service and church-sponsored conferences. \n\nOn February 23, 1985, Cat married the one love of her life, Isaac "Pete" Gant III. This union manifested three children--Lajuanne, Isaac IV and Derell. Cat remained a devoted wife and mother, always placing the needs of her husband and children above her own. She loved her family--both her immediate family and extended family. She maintained close relationships with her siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. \n\nCat leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Isaac Gant III; daughter, Lajuanne King; sons, Isaac Gant IV and Derell Gant; grandchildren, Kenadi King, Landen Jones, Isaiah McGuffy and Zakia Brown; son-in law Kendell King; daughters-in-law, Jada Stockman and Iesha Trish; sisters, Rainey Peters and Lorraine Porter; brothers, Adrian and Kevin Love, and Troy and Henry Porter; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Belvin, Mary Ann Johnson, Juanita Magee, Deborah Cage, Tasheeka Gant and Cynthia Gant; brothers-in-law, Frank Johnson and Earl Magee; Godchildren, Jenee and Josh Threats; numerous cousins and friends. \n\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Mae Porter Williams, Henry Clark and Viola Clark Williams; father-in-law, Isaac Gant, Jr.; siblings, Thomas, Herbert, Audrey Mae and Larry Love, Ethel Mae Porter and Matthew Williams; stepdaughter, Toccara Payne; and brother-in-law, Donald Gant.\n\nA public walk-through visitation will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at New Zion Christian Center, 216 W Main St., Gramercy, LA 70052 from 10am-11am.
