Cecile "MaeMae" McKinney (Marvin) Obituary (1945 - 2022)

Cecile "Mae-Mae" Marvin McKinney was born on July 17,1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Edward Marvin Sr. and Lillian Smith Zeno. At a young age, Ellis Zeno Sr. interceded to rear "Mae Mae" as his very own. The love he had for her was unconditional. "Mae Mae" accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized on June 23,1968 at Providence Baptist Church in Laplace, Louisiana. She actively served as an usher and a deaconess. "Mae-Mae" was educated in St. John the Baptist Parish School System. She was employed for 30 plus years at St. John Parish Council on Aging. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Bob C. McKinney Sr on July 3, 1965. "Mae-Mae" leaves to cherish her memories her two caring sons Bob Jr (Sylvia) and Shawn McKinney, her two loving daughters Lorna Linton (Arthur) and the late Luciana McKinney, one bonus daughter Shana Schenall; three sisters Carol and Linda Prout, and Linda Hughes; four brothers Ellis Zeno Jr, Edward and Dwight Marvin, and Leo Smith; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, five bonus grand and great grandchildren, and a devoted friend Patricia Crum. She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. "Mae-Mae" had a quiet spirit, but she wasn't shy. She gave a heartfelt smile to everyone. Her laughter and her faith in GOD helped her keep a positive outlook on life. There's nothing in the world that she loved more than being a wife, mother, and a grandmother. Her greatest enjoyment was shopping and eating out with her girls Lorna, LaKrisha and LaAndria. She looked forward to countless hours of phone conversations with Bobby and Eazhah. She had a special relationship with Bessie Cook, who was not only her aunt but her confidant. She also shared a special bond with her brother Leo Smith. He was her brother, friend, and advisor. "Mae-Mae" was proceeded in death by her husband, Bob C. McKinney Sr, her parents; Edward Marvin Sr, Ellis Sr. and Lillian Zeno, her daughter Luciana McKinney, and her siblings Raymond Johnson, Earl Zeno and Olivia Prout. A celebration of life honoring Cecile "Mae-Mae" McKinney will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at New Wine Christian Fellowship, 1929 W. Airline Hwy, Laplace, LA 70068 at 10am. Visitation period will be held from 9am until start of service. Interment to follow at Providence Baptist Church #1 Cemetery, Laplace, LA 70068.
