Charles Ray Greenwood, Sr. was born on August 26, 1959 to the late Johnny Sr. and late Edna Marie Greenwood in Cleveland, Mississippi. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and later moved to Metairie, Louisiana. He was introduced to our Lord and Savior at an early age. \n\nCharles graduated from Bonnabel High School in Kenner, Louisiana. Upon completing high school, he joined the United States Navy where he served his country in the Philippines. Charles enjoyed his time in the Navy where he acquired many skills, such as forklift operator, crane operator, firefighting, and painting. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Charles worked at Avondale Shipyard as a painter until his retirement.\n\nCharles met and married his Wanda, the mother of his two sons, Charles (Deishonda) Greenwood, Jr. and Carlos Greenwood. Later in life, he married Mable” Sandy” who survives him and the mother of his daughter Denesia Brown, and two bonus children, Nikita Williams and Kenneth Brown. Charles was preceded in death by his two brothers, Johnny Jr. and Larry Greenwood. He is survived by his grandchildren Charles (Raynell), Cyreek and Cyrus Greenwood, Leah Robertson, Anthony Alexis, Carmello, Invee and Chozen brown, AuJuan Marsalis, Demond Brown, Iman-LaShay Brown, LaMarco Brown and Nasir Williams. Four sisters, Marilyn and Carolyn Greenwood, Lucinda (Darryl) Brousseau, and Gloria Faye Smith. Three brothers, John (Linda) Greenwood, James (Monica) Greenwood and Walter Greenwood. His aunt Pastor Linda Davis and uncle Billy Muhammad. Two devoted friends, Kevin “Bay Bay” Whitaker, and Kevin “Whimp” Evans, and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives, and friends. \n\nA celebration of life honoring Charles Ray Greenwood, Sr. will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at New Generation Fellowship Center, 1000 Clay St, Kenner, La 70062. Visitation will begin at 9 am. Service to follow at 10 am. Interment at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham Collge Dr, Slidell , La 70460.
