CHARLES MERREL SMITH

Charles Merrel Smith peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the age of 93. Born in Hickman, Kentucky enjoyed most of his adult life in Los Angeles, California, retired to Edgard, La. in 2009. He is the son of the late Lottie Copeland and Lonnie Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Margaret S. Smith; son, Charles A. Smith, step-children, Ada (Roy) James and Harold (Neici) Poche; grandchildren Tyra Jenning, Monica and Crystal Smith, Marilyn Alford and Ladone Mooney; step-grandchildren, Carventee (Sherita) Poche, Callie James, Jaton Poche, Demond and Jaylan Pierce, seven sisters and brothers in laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Members of St. John the Baptist Catholic, Morning Star Baptist Church, Knights of St. Peter Claver Council and Court #66, Fr. Joseph Van Baast Assembly #23 and all neighboring churches, relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Edgard, La. for 1:00 pm. Rev. Rob Morgia, celebrant. Visitation begins at 10:00 am. Interment Inglewood Park Cemetery, 3801 West Manchester . Los Angeles, California 90302.
