Clifford Jerome "Dog" Joshua Jr. Obituary (1947 - 2021)

Clifford "Dog" Joshua, Jr. was born on March 16, 1947 in Welcome, LA., to the union of Clifford Joshua Sr. and Earline Madison Joshua. Clifford graduated from Lowery High School in 1965. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, where he was a mathematics and science major. He was employed by Union Carbide as a lab technician, maintenance technician, supervisor and manager. Clifford retired in 2000 after 32 years of dedication. From childhood to adulthood, he attended Buena Vista Baptist Church in Saint James, LA, where he was baptized and accepted Christ. During the last few years of his life, he regularly attended New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church in Vacherie, LA. Clifford loved fishing, gardening, landscaping, and football. He was a Saints fan and had season tickets for many years. He also liked to tailgate in his RV. But most of all, he loved the "cha-ching" of the slot machines. Clifford leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 53 years, Olamae Roussel Joshua; daughter, Erin Michelle Joshua; siblings (from the union of his parents), Varrie Mack Joshua, Veronica Alice Joshua Green, Theodore Smith Joshua, and Mayfield Percy Joshua (Cynthia); 3 sisters (from the union of Clifford Joshua Sr. and his stepmother Mercedes Jones Joshua Woodson), Phillipha Jackson (Steve), Lechia Maiden (Victor) and Ingrid Thompson (James); other siblings, Barbara Johnson, Caroline Williams, and Charles Williams; and a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Javonne Michelle Joshua; brother, Mayfield Joshua; and his parents, Clifford and Earline Joshua. Home-going services for Clifford "Dog" Joshua, Jr. will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021, at Treasures of Life's temporary location, 22131 Hwy. 20, Vacherie, LA 70090 (Steven Keller Properties/The Diamond Center). Walk-through ONLY visitation will be held from 9am-11am. Private family service to follow. Interment to follow at St. Philip Catholic Church Cemetery, 1175 LA-18, Vacherie, LA 70090.
