Dion H. Mattos

Dion H. Mattos, a beloved husband, father, and faithful servant of God, was called to his heavenly home on May 21, 2026, after a life well-lived. Born on August 9, 1960, in Providence, RI, Dion’s life was a testament to his unwavering faith, his dedication to service, and his love for his family.

Dion was a funny and smart individual, with a loyalty that knew no bounds. His dedication was reflected in his professional life as a Background Investigator for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he faithfully served until his retirement in 2022. His intelligence and dedication to his job were second to none, making him a respected figure in the law enforcement community. Dion was also a zealous collector of DVD’s, antique model cars, and sports memorabilia. He was a steadfast fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Boston Red Sox, his passion and loyalty towards his favorite teams always on display.

However, Dion’s true joy was found in his faith and his family. As a dedicated deacon of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Dion found solace and purpose in his faith. He often turned to the scripture for guidance, drawing strength from verses like Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Dion was a devoted husband to his wife, Jacqueline, whom he married on May 7, 2000. He was a loving father to his daughters Deanna and Whitney. He is also survived by his sister, Zita Belasky, and his half brother Benjamin Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Sr. and Edna Mattos.

Dion's life was one of love, faith, and service. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the church community he served so faithfully. We encourage all who knew Dion to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page.
