On May 28, 2023, Donald Raymond Smith, age 70 of Rosharon, TX departed this life at HCA Healthcare Hospital in Pearland, TX. Donald Raymond Smith was born on January 26, 1953, to the late Izellia (Mitchell) and Earl Smith Sr. of St. James, La. He (along with his three siblings) grew up in St. James Parish. Donald was a graduate of Saint James High School and The Southern University A&M College.\n\nThere he met and fell in love with Karen Ann Garrett. They married in 1976. Donald began his career as an Operator for Shell Pipeline and rose steadily up through the ranks to the position of Manager of Public Awareness. After 37 years, Donald retired from that position and continued his career with Crescent Midstream, where he served 11 years as Vice President of Business Development. Donald was an avid golfer, fond of getting in a quick round’ on the local course. He enjoyed watching Nascar races and firing up the barbeque grill to meet his family’s demands for a batch of his famous ribs. \n\nDonald was the beloved husband of Karen Garrett Smith; devoted father of Jared Smith, Rique’ Smith, and Jole’(Jonathan) Broden; beloved grandfather of Jaleel Broden, Aubrie Blaylock, and Jaliyah Broden -all of Rosharon, TX. Donald leaves to cherish his memory two sisters: Mary (Peter)Batiste, and Sheila (late Ricky) Sharper; one brother Earl(Yvonne) Smith Jr,; a sister-in-law Phyllis(late Donald) Oubre; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, co-workers and\nfriends.\n\nDonald was preceded in death by his parents, Izellia (Mitchell) and Earl Smith Sr.; mother and father-in-law, Almedgia (Lassere) and Oscar Garrett; maternal grandparents, Exodus Sr. and Ella (Geason) Mitchell; paternal grandparents Earl and Eroda (Lee)Smith; a step-grandfather, Edward Mitchell; two sisters, Ella and Rhonda Smith; two brothers-in-law, Donald Oubre and Ricky Sharper.\n\nA Mass of Christian burial honoring Donald Raymond Smith will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 13281 LA-644, Vacherie, La 70090. Fr. Matthew McCaughey, celebrant. Visitation begins at 8:30 am. Mass will begin at 11 am. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church Cemetery.
