Edward "Man" Briscoe Jr. Obituary (1950 - 2021)

Edward Briscoe Jr. known as "Man" began his journey through heavens gates on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the hour of 11:45 am. He was born December 15, 1950 to the late Edward Sr. and Eloise Briscoe. Ed was the eldest of ten children. He was baptized at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Isaac at Second New Guide B.C. He was educated in Jefferson (John H Martyn) and Orleans (Joseph S. Clark) Parish school systems. Edward always held some type of job as a young man, which attributed to his determination to always provide for his family. Among the jobs he held were at Avondale Shipyard, Atlas Steel & Wire, Golemi and Speedee Cleaners. Edward also learned the Carpentry trade from his stepfather-in-law, the late James A. Osum. In 1971, Edward married his soulmate. From that union two children were born, Vernell (Nella) and Kesha Briscoe. Over the years he has resided in the Shrewsberry, New Orleans and Metairie areas. Beautiful memories of 50 years will always be cherished by his wife, Delores (Cookie); daughters Vernell (Nella) L and Kesha L Briscoe; grandson, Zachary J. Shy Jr. and granddaughter Taylor M. Peaden who were the apple of his eye; three sisters, Debby (Kevin) Marshall, Constance Bazile, Alona (Chester) McDowell; five brothers, Gregory (Ellen), Keith (Bernita), Byron (Doris), Eric (Surnise), and Jeffery Briscoe; sister-in-law Doris (Ernest) Stewart, who introduced her sister to Edward 50 years ago; two brothers-in-law, Mose and Nathaniel (Patricia) Riley; two Godchildren, Amy Anderson and Rachelle (Chelly) Joseph, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Sr. and Eloise Briscoe, one sister Vernell (Nella) Briscoe, maternal and paternal grandparents, and a Godson Barry Hudson. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff members of Ochsner Hospital and the various medical personnel that tended to his needs with compassion and professionalism, Delgado Community College, Entergy, Eye Surgery Center of Louisiana, Amtrak, Oracle Corporation, Walmart, St. John Public Schools, Vossburg Sand and Gravel of Vossburg, MS, Royal Engineer and Consultants, and Applied Training Solutions. Officiating Rev. John E Dillon, Jr, Pastor of Body of Christ Fellowship Church of Metaire, LA. Visitation will be held from 9am-11am. Service will begin at 11am.
