Eva Washington

–

LaPlace, Louisiana

Eva Christine Washington was born on June 5, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and peacefully departed this earthly life on September 2, 2026, at the age of 79. At the time of her passing, she resided at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in LaPlace, Louisiana.

A proud native of Edgard, Louisiana, Eva cherished her family, and the community that shaped her. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where her strong faith guided her throughout her life.

Eva was the sixth child born to the late Charles R. Washington Sr. and the late Lou Barre Washington. She was a beacon of light and a source of wisdom to everyone blessed enough to know her. Her gentle spirit and kind heart left an imprint on every life she touched, offering comfort, guidance, and joy in even the smallest moments.

Eva was known for her love of dancing-moving with a grace that reflected the beauty of her soul and the happiness she carried within her. Whether sharing laughter, offering support, weather forecast, or simply being present, Eva brought warmth wherever she went. Her legacy of compassion, strength, and joy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Washington Sr. and Lou Barre Washington; and her siblings Charles Washington Jr., Euclid Washington, Errex Washington, and Edward Washington.

Eva is survived by her loving sons, Kirk Washington (Donielle) and Dariel Washington, who will forever carry her strength and wisdom in their hearts.

She leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren:
Rachel Washington-Pinela (Miguel), Kirk Washington Jr., Morgan Washington, Darriel Shine Brown, Dace'on Blakes, Danaye Johnson, Donte Labranche, and Evania Cortorreal.

Eva was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy & pride. Her family was the center of her world, and her love will continue to shine through each generation.

She is also lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings; Michael Washington Sr.(Geraldine), Claude Washington, Kevin Washington (Bobby Ann), Lucy Jackson, Joanne Bartholomew (Alvin Sr.), Myra Washington, Lydia Jupiter (Bertrand Jr.), Grace Harry (Milton), Cynthia Washington, and Denise Fairley; along with an host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

And as her family imagines her dancing in heaven, they can almost see her doing her signature move that playful little shoulder shimmy followed by the big, bright smile she always flashed when the music touched her soul. It's easy to picture Eva twirling gracefully among the angels, lifting her hands just slightly the way she used to, as if saying, "Y'all know I still got it." Her joyful spirit continues to dance on, lighting up heaven just as she lit up every room on Earth.
