“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
Flora Mae Pierce “Nan-Nan” answered her Father’s call on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the age of 75 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Flora was born on April 13, 1951, in Edgard, LA to the union of the late Elijah and Rosana Victor Pierce.
Flora was educated in the St. John the Baptist Parish School System, where she graduated from Second Ward High School in 1971. Shortly after graduating, Flora moved to New Orleans, LA with her late cousin, Beatrice, to work at a uniform shop. She lived in New Orleans for 14 years before moving back home shortly after the birth of her son, Brandon, who was her pride and joy. She later went on to work as a Custodial Worker in the St. John the Baptist Parish School System and as a Secretary for Mayflower Benevolent Association. Flora was a hard worker and dedicated, no matter the job.
Flora was full of personality and zest. With her quick wit, she could fuss you in one minute and make you laugh the next. Flora loved dancing (earning the title “Queen of Swing Out”), watching classic Western movies, and football.
She enjoyed running and playing football pools. She was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, although she secretly cheered for the New Orleans Saints— a secret she made sure to keep from her son. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She cherished every moment spent with them and treasured the memories they created together. Her generosity, kindness, and love for her family were evident in all that she did.
As her health began to decline and she was unable to attend church, Flora remained devoted to her Catholic faith and found comfort in watching the Rosary on television. Flora was truly one of a kind and her vibrant spirit and love for life will be fondly remembered.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her beloved son, Brandon Pierce (Jessica); sisters, Sandra P. Lewis, Theresa P. Borne, and Alice P. Edwards; aunt, Annette Larks; sisters-in-law, Eula K. Pierce and Joyce Y. Pierce; godchildren, Lloyd Borne, Jr., Tomeka Lockett, and Anisha Simon; devoted friends, Sara Joseph, Laura Howard, and Ken Borne; devoted cousin, Kim Morris; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Flora was preceded in death by her parents Elijah and Rosanna V. Pierce; maternal grandparents, Ellis and Jeanne Samuel Victor; sisters, Marjorie P. Davis, Julia Pierce; brothers, Emile Pierce, Warren Pierce, Willie Pierce, and Walter Pierce; brothers-in-law, Louis Davis, Sr., Gerald Lewis, Lloyd Borne, Sr., and Larry Edwards; aunts, Margaret Stewart, Marie Coco, Florisca Freeman, and Bonita Walker; uncle, Clarence Victor; and nephews, Terry Pierce and Louis Davis, Jr.
Relatives and friends of the family, Brown and Root Industrial Services, and Second Ward High School Class of 1971 are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2349 LA 18, Edgard, LA 70049 with Reverend Robustiano Morgia, celebrant. Visitation will be held from 8:00-9:00 AM, followed by the Rosary at 9:00 AM, and Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery.
