Jacqueline D. Rousseve

–

Edgard, Louisiana

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
2 Timothy 4:7

Jacqueline Ann Dinvaut Rousseve, affectionately known as "Daisy, Granny, and Jackie", was born on March 25, 1940, to the Late Fernand and Louella Dinvaut, Jr. in Edgard, La. She entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the age of 84, just shy of her 85 birthday. She was reared in a Christian home by her parents where they instilled the love of God, hard work, education, and most importantly compassion for others. Her life was a reflection of her devotion to God and her commitment to serving others. She was a proud lifelong and faithful member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She assisted with many church activities and dedicated countless hours to church service,
most notably as an usher, welcoming all. She was also an auxiliary member of the St. John Westside Volunteer Fire Department.

After graduating from high school, she spent several years in Chicago working in retail before returning home to pursue her education. She earned a degree in Business and went on to work as a secretary at Second Ward High School. She later joined Occidental Chemical, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring.

Jackie met Maurice Rousseve, Sr. and began a wonderful life together. From this union they brought two beautiful children into this world. Gidget A. Rousseve-Downing and Maurice A. Rousseve, Jr.

"Daisy" as her children would call her, loved to be surrounded by her family, and friends. She loved to dance and fill the room with laughter. She had a sharp wit and a straight-shooting style. She never believed in sugarcoating the truth. But underneath that tough exterior, she had a heart full of love. Her devotion to God allowed her to have a love for helping, spreading joy, compassion, and understanding. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her children and especially her grandchildren. Just one phone call and "Granny" was coming to the rescue. She also loved talking on the phone with her best friends,Marilyn Craig, Lona Millet, Elina August, and the late Betty Duronslet. She loved and cared deeply for her godchild Monique Cook and friend Roslyn Roussell.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Fernand and Louell Dinvaut, Jr.; her husband: Maurice Rousseve, Sr.; her brothers: Rudolph Dinvaut (Corrine), Ferdinand Dinvaut, II(Philomena), and Mullin Dinvaut; her sister: Beverly D. Harris (Henry Yale) and her brother-in-law: Leroy Sorapuru.

Jacqueline leaves to cherish precious memories of her children: Gidget Downing(Tommy) and Maurice Rousseve, Jr.(Lakisha); her grandchildren: Dehaven Rousseve(Janell), Diamond Downing; Lyric, Makayla, Mya, and Jewel Rousseve; her step-great grandchildren: Ja'ryan, Jailyn, Jaden, Roussell; Jaida, Dillon, Jareani, and Destiny
Washington; her step-great-great grandson: Quest Nelson; her sister: Rose Mary Sorapuru; her godchildren: Monique Cook, Donna Copelin, and Hardy Schexnayder, Jr.; her devoted friends: Lona Millet, Elina August, Roslyn Roussell, Marilyn Craig; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
