Josephine Favorite, a lifelong native and resident of Edgard, LA, departed her earthly life on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:24p.m. at Ochsner Hospital in Kenner, LA. She was born on April 24, 1945 to the union of the late Samuel and Virginia Simon Favoroth, Sr. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend J.J. Harper at Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church in Edgard, LA. She served as an usher and was a devoted member until her health declined.\n\nJosephine worked for St. John the Baptist Parish for more than 30 years before retiring. She loved her family dearly. She greeted all with her beautiful smile and loving spirit. Josephine lived by her favorite bible verse Psalms 23:1 "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me...."\n\nJosephine was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She leaves to cherish her memories five children, Lori, Brian, Bruce, Sandra, and Syndra Jackson; 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; sisters, Vivian Chopin, Geraldine Boose, Anna Mae Lewis, Margaret Henderson, and Shirley Grows; brother, Larry Favorite; brother-in-law Lester Chopin; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.\n\nJosephine was preceded in death her parents Samuel and Virginia Simon Favoroth, Sr.; sisters, Bernetta Jasmin, Luverda Perkins, Bernice Favoroth, Marion Lewis, and Mary Ann Favoroth; brothers, Joseph Favoroth and Samuel (Ducky) Favoroth, Jr.; stepbrother, C.J. Thomas and her great-grandson Tre'Shon Juwan Jenkins.\n\nFamily, friends, and staff of Ochsner Medical Center and Winn-Dixie are invited to attend a celebration of life honoring Josephine funeral service on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church 200 West 3rd Street- Edgard, LA 70049. Visitation period begins at 9am until the start of the service at 11am. Interment to follow at Woodville Cemetery in Wallace, LA.
