Jylin Nelson

–

Saint Gabriel, Louisiana

Jylin Christopher Nelson came bursting into this world on January 1, 1997, to Raven Harry Harvey and Joseph Nelson in Thibodaux, Louisiana. As the first baby born that year, Jylin began his life in a special way—bringing joy and excitement from the very start. He departed this life on Friday, August 21, 2026, after 29 beautiful years of life, love, laughter, and memories.

Jylin was a native of Vacherie, Louisiana, and a resident of Prairieville, Louisiana. He was a proud 2015 graduate of St. James High School and was employed by Brown & Root at BASF. His coworkers affectionately remember his last day at work as one of the best—filled with laughter, smiles, and the joy Jylin naturally brought to those around him.

Jylin was loved by all who knew him. He was a devoted son and father, a loving grandson, nephew, cousin, and loyal friend. He had a loving soul, a heart full of wisdom, and big dreams for his life and his future. Jylin treasured spending time with his family, but the time he shared with his son, Jay’Cien, was especially dear to his heart.

Jylin leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Raven Harry Harvey; his father, Joseph Nelson; his beloved son, Jay’Cien Nelson; his bonus father, Audis Harvey; his bonus mother, Breann Foster; and his siblings, Sherieana Shepherd and Jace Nelson.

He also leaves his grandparents, Raymond and Floretta Harry, Mary Nelson, and Willis Young; his great-grandmother, Dorothy Celestin; his aunts, Tanyna (Burnell) Gordon, Bernadette Nelson, Danelle Nelson, Eva Nelson, Valerie Scott, Phyllis Young, and Donna Brown; and his uncles, Otis (Catina) Harry, Raymond Young, Achillies Celestin, and Clint Louis.

Jylin also leaves a host of devoted great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly and will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Jylin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lionel M. Celestin Jr., and his grandmother, Bernita Young; his maternal great-grandparents, Ernest and Rosemary Jessie Harry and Cyril and Floretta Steib Dumas; and his great-grandparents, Lionel M. Celestin Sr. and Gustavia Nelson.
