~~LIFE~~
On Thursday, September 3, 2026, Keisha Marie Ferdinand Goff peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a lifetime of beautiful memories, laughter, love, and a legacy that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Keisha entered this world on August 12, 1971, to the loving union of Lloyd “Pa-poo”Ferdinand, Sr. and Artie Ann Ferdinand. She was a welcomed presence in a house full of brothers, Craig “Fly”, Nathanial “Tanny” Byron, and Troy Ferdinand. Being the baby girl of the family came with its privileges, and as her family and friends can lovingly attest,Keisha had a special way of getting her way! Keisha’s family also included an older brother and sister, Lloyd Jr. and Claudia Ferdinand.
Keisha’s spiritual foundation was established early in life. In 1978, she was baptized atGreater King Triumph Baptist Church by her uncle, Reverend Versey Fluence. As a young girl, she sang in the church youth choir, beginning a lifelong connection to faith, family, and music.
Keisha was educated in the St. James Parish School System and was a proud graduate of the Lutcher High School Class of 1990. Her love for music was a gift inherited from her. father, and during high school, she became a member of the Lutcher High School Atomic Dog Marching Band. Her instrument of choice was the clarinet. During her Junior and Senior years, she stepped to the front of the band, proudly serving as their Drum Major.
Following high school, Keisha continued her post-secondary education at Phillips Junior College, graduating in 1992 with a degree in Business Administration. Her education, skills, and talents open doors to several places of employment during her lifetime. They included Ryder, Hammerman and Gainer, LaRoche Chemical Plant, and finally River Parishes Community College Testing Center.
~~Love~~
It was during her high school years that Keisha met the love of her life, Darren “Pa” Goff. What began as a high school romance blossomed into a lasting love story. On September 26, 1992, Keisha and Pa were united in holy matrimony at the Greater King Triumph Baptist Church, surrounded by family and friends. They purchased a house in Laplace, and made it a loving home. Four years later, their family was blessed with the arrival of their only child, their beloved daughter, Zariah Ashton Goff.Keisha loved her family deeply, and some of her greatest joys were found in the simple moments spent with the people she loved. She enjoyed backyard gatherings filled with family, friends, food, conversation, and laughter. Known for her cooking skills, Keisha knew how to bring people together around a good meal. She also enjoyed fishing and crabbing ,and treasured those Sunday rides to the New Orleans Lakefront.
Keisha also loved the game of football. She was a devoted Southern University Jaguarand a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan. Many Saturdays found her on the “Bluff" and watching the Jaguars take the field and enjoying the excitement and tradition of Southern University football and the Human Jukebox Marching Band.
Keisha also knew how to relax and enjoy a good movie or television show. Among her favorites were Jaws, Titanic, and In the Heat of the Night. Whether watching a familiar favorite show again or simply enjoying a quiet moment at home, these were some of the things that brought her comfort and peace.
Music was also woven throughout Keisha’s life. From her early days listening to her father on the church organ, singing in the church choir to her years in the marching band, music remained something she loved. Among the songs that held a special place in her heart were “You Are Great” and “I Don’t Mind Waiting",performed by Juanita Bynum. Their messages of worship, faith, and trusting God reflected the spiritual foundation planted in Keisha many years ago.
Those who knew Keisha will also remember the little things that made her unmistakably Keisha.
In addition to her favorite football teams, favorite shows, and favorite songs, Keisha also had a favorite perfume. For years, her perfume of choice was Bijan, a familiar scent that became part of who she was. She also had her own special way of greeting the people. Whether it was a phone call or a text message, you were probably greeted with her familiar, “Hey Chic!” or her warm,“Hi Sweetie!” Those simple greetings now hold precious memories of a voice that will never be forgotten.Keisha was more than a wife, mother, sister, aunt, godmother, cousin, classmate, and friend. She was someone who enjoyed life and the people who made life meaningful.
Whether gathered in the backyard, sitting near the lake, cheering from the stands,
watching one of her favorite movies, enjoying music, cooking for those she loved, or simply sharing conversation and laughter, Keisha had a way of creating memories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come.
