The Angel of Death appeared to Kenneth J. Ellis, Sr., on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson, LA. Kenneth answered the call of Jesus, who whispered to him, "My Child, come on home and rest." He fought a good fight and he finished his course, and he's now in his Heavenly Home.\n\nKenneth was born on April 21, 1951, to the late Nelson and Rose Ellis. He resided in Garyville, LA until relocating to New Orleans, LA. He was a member of True Light Baptist Church in Garyville. \n\nKenneth is survived by his children, Kawana (Damon) Perrilloux, Kenneth Ellis, Jr., and Kevin (Alicia) Ellis; wife, Jennifer Ellis; one sister, Norma E. Hale;, sister-in-law, Barbara Ellis; two brothers, Steven (Karen) Ellis and Norman Ellis; seven grandchildren, Keith-Anthony Ellis, Kyle Ellis, Kayla Ellis, Amiyah Ellis, Kevin Ellis, Jr., Lyric Mitchell and Symphony Mitchell; one great-grandson, Raheem Ellis; Godchild, Steven Ellis, Jr.; step-daughters, Triche Poche, Tereka Poche and Tee Poche, and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, other relatives and friends.\n\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Nelson Ellis, and brothers Vernon Ellis, and Barry Ellis, Sr. \n\nFuneral services for Kenneth J. Ellis, Sr. will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at True Light Baptist Church, 258 S. Little Hope St., Garyville, LA 70051 at 11am. Visitation period will be held from 9am-11am. Pastor Sam Jones officiating. Entombment to follow at St. Michael Catholic Church Cemetery in Convent, LA.
