“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Larry Joseph Edwards, fondly known as Mickey, at home with his family, transitioned to his eternal home on April 4, 2024, at the age of 67.

Larry Joseph Edwards was born on June 10, 1956, in New Orleans, LA, to the union of Mitchell Edwards, Sr. and Shirley Poche Edwards. On June 28, 1980, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Alice Pierce Edwards and to this union two adorable sons were born, Lorenzo Joseph Edwards and Alonzo Anthony Edwards.

Larry was a lifelong resident of Edgard, LA. He was educated in St. John the Baptist Parish School System and a graduate of Second Ward High School class of 1976. He later gained certification in Carpentry from River Parishes Vocational-Technical School in Reserve, LA. Afterward, he began work at Avondale Shipyard and later went on to work at Caire and Graugnard where he was employed for many years. Larry also briefly worked at DOW
Chemical Refinery.

Larry was truly a family man. He was his children’s biggest supporter. Larry enjoyed gardening, fishing, and cooking wildlife. Even after being wheelchair-confined due to an accident in 1998,
he was adamant about maintaining his independence as much as possible. Even though he could no longer build or repair things, he had no problems telling others how to do it. Larry enjoyed talking with family and friends about the journey of life and telling jokes.

Larry leaves to cherish many precious memories to his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Alice P. Edwards; two sons, Lorenzo J. Edwards, and Alonzo A. Edwards (Renata); five grandchildren, Trayvonne, DaJah, Zyrion, Dyri, and Cashaan. His siblings, Mitchell (Melinda) Edwards Jr., Ray (Dora) Edwards Sr., Rita E.
