A Life Well Lived
Every life tells a story, and Lawrence "Larry" Williams' story was one of perseverance, loyalty, love, and unwavering commitment. It was not a story without hardship, but it was one marked by resilience, quiet strength, and a heart that never stopped showing up for the people he loved.
On August 23, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, Larry began his journey as the beloved son of the late Cornelius Williams Sr. and Beverly Banks. From those humble beginnings grew a man whose work ethic, devotion, and infectious spirit would leave a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
After graduating from John McDonogh High School in 1985, Larry dedicated himself to a career built on service and excellence. For 35 years, he faithfully served as a valued employee of the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, while also spending an incredible 25 years with the JW Marriott New Orleans. His coworkers knew him as dependable, hardworking, and a genuine man whose consistency and character earned respect wherever he went.
On August 21, 1998, Larry married the love of his life, Cassandra Lynette Williams. Together they built a life that reflected the true meaning of commitment. Like every enduring love story, theirs was not without trials and challenges. Yet through every season, Larry remained steadfast in his commitment to his wife, and Cassandra remained equally devoted to him. Their marriage was a testament to perseverance, faith, forgiveness, and choosing each other through life's storms. This August, they would have celebrated 28 years of marriage, and Larry would have proudly celebrated his 60th birthday just two days later.
Even in his final moments, Larry's generous spirit continued to shine. As a proud organ donor, he made the selfless decision to give the gift of life and hope to others.
Family was Larry's greatest treasure. He was a loving and proud father to Calandra, Brittany, Crystal, and Ronnie, each of whom carried a special place in his heart. His greatest joy multiplied when he became "Paw-Paw" to his cherished grandchildren, Cassydi, Fard, and Capri, whose laughter and love brought immeasurable happiness to his life.
Larry also leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Cornelius Williams Jr. (Patricia), Kim Williams, Norman Williams, and Michael Revis (Tanisia). He is survived by his beloved Aunt Elaine Castello, whose love remained a constant blessing in his life. He now reunites with his father and the sixteen aunts and uncles who preceded him in death. Larry's legacy also lives on through a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, lifelong friends, and countless colleagues whose lives were enriched simply by knowing him.
The last two years of Larry's life were filled with significant health challenges that tested both his body and spirit. Even during those difficult days, he faced each obstacle with determination and courage, surrounded by the unwavering love of those who refused to leave his side. His journey reminded us all that true strength is often found not in avoiding life's battles, but in continuing to fight them with dignity.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find peace in knowing that Larry's story does not end here. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply, in the friendships he nurtured, in the lives he touched through decades of faithful service, and in the countless memories that will forever be treasured.
Well done, Larry. Your work here is complete. Rest peacefully, and may your memory forever be a blessing.
