Leroy "Brother" J. Bailey\nAlpha: February 3, 1941\nOmega: October 12, 2022\n\nLeroy Joseph Bailey was born on February 3, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the beloved son of\nthe late Angelina Burke Bailey and the late Prescott Bailey, Sr., of Edgard, Louisiana. Leroy entered his\neternal home on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. His soul surrendered unto the call of the Heavenly\nFather to a mansion prepared for him from the foundation of the Earth by an all -wise loving God.\nLeroy confessed his father in God at an early age and maintained his faith until his demise. He loved the\nLord and always desired for others to get to know the Lord as well. His heart only had one throne and\nJesus Christ sat upon that throne. Leroy packaged seeds of wisdom along his journey. He recognized that he could not forget the most important agenda, for it would not have had a round trip package. Therefore, let us not mourn his departure, but let us rejoice for he has reached his destination...Heaven....that Holy City we all are\nstriving to reach. Leroy was educated in the St. John the Baptist Parish School system. He was a graduate of Second Ward High School, class of 1960. His career began as a contractor. During that timeframe, he joined several Contractor's Union Legions. Later during his career, Leroy became one of the "First Top Ten Licensed\nBlack Contractor's in the state of Louisiana. This also led him to become self- employed as a residential\nand commercial licensed contractor. Leroy was also a member of the Jaycees in the 70s' and would later run for political office, Constable, in St John the Baptist Parish. Leroy is preceded in death by his loving wife Earline Dumas Bailey and grandson Gerald Smith, Jr. Cherishing his precious memories, is his companion Carolyn Clark and her loving daughter Shaquitta Green, as well as his daughters: Kershell Marie Bailey, of Edgard, Louisiana; Keverne Ann Bailey of Garyville, Louisiana; Demetria Ann Bailey of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; Janel Marie Bailey of Edgard,\nLouisiana; Tarshelda Elise Chisley of Raceland, Louisiana; as well as Kim (Christopher} Quinn Howard of\nGonzales, Louisiana. Grandchildren, D'Andre Bailey, Toyin Bailey, DaJyne(Benjamin) Bailey Duhon, LaShae Bailey, Clayton Poche III, LaRon Gauthier, Jordan Barnes and Ja'Kyri Jacobs. Great Grandchildren, Semaj Love, Onijae Love, Casidy August, Kodah Poche, Wynter Gauthier, Nola Duhon, Dakota Bailey, Denym Bailey and Dayton Bailey\nSiblings preceded in death; Joseph Bailey, Lucille Bailey-Bernard, Joyce (Nuffy) Darensburg, Theresa (Lawrence) Scoffield, Autherine(Jonathan) Borne In Laws preceded in death; Leonise (Snell) Oubre, Dolter(Julius) Keller, Delton( Dolores) Dumas, Hamilton Dumas, Welton (Elodie) Dumas, Raymond Dumas, Gentry "Jay" Dumas, Adler Weber, Sr., Morris Dumas and Raymond Dumas. His surviving siblings; Prescott (Marion) Bailey, Jr., Dianne Bailey, Eric (Belinda) Bailey His surviving Uncle: Raymond Bailey, Sr. His surviving in laws; Glenda Weber, Shirley Dumas, Lois Dumas, Margaret Dumas, and Verna Dumas Godchildren; Roxanne Borne, Kim Bailey, Ada Poche-James, Trumaine Schexnayder and Roderick Percy, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.\n\nAcknowledgements\nThe family of Leroy Bailey would like to express sincere gratitude to each of you for your extended love,\nand kindness during their time of bereavement.
