Lovie Ann Keppard (Arbuthnot) Obituary (1952 - 2021)

Lovie Ann Arbuthnot Keppard was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Touro Hospital, surrounded by her family. Lovie was born on June 24, 1952 to the union of Jessie Mae Jones Arbuthnot and Dan Alex Arbuthnot. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and became a faithful member of Jerusalem Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Dr. Albert Breckenridge. Lovie attended Agnes L. Bauduit Elementary School, Sophie B. Wright Middle School, & Walter L. Cohen High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, Junior Holiday, and to this union two sons were born, Mark and Karl Holiday. Lovie was gainfully employed by The Street Car Restaurant, where she worked for many years. After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the restaurant was forced to close due to damage. She loved her job and made many friends and acquaintances while employed there. Lovie became friends with whomever she came into contact with. She was truly a people's person. While working at the Streetcar, she met and married Joseph (Papa Kip) Keppard, which led her to become the stepmother of five beautiful children. Lovie attended and later joined Blessed Trinity Catholic Church to serve with her husband. She was proceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Dan Alex Arbuthnot; one sister, Ernestine Jones Collins; one brother, Willie James Jarvis; maternal mother, Maggie Jarvis; parental father, Ernest Jones; grandparents, Sarah Arbuthnot, James Posey Arbuthnot, Sr., Phinnie Bates Arbuthnot, Sarah and Frank Jones; uncles, Percy Louis, Sr., Robert and Turner (Lil Bit) Jones, Edward Ross, John E. Williams, Sr., James P. Arbuthnot, Jr.; and aunts, Erma Smith, Lovie A. DeJean, Laura M. Williams, Nettie Oliver, and Mildred Jackson. Lovie leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband, Joseph Keppard; two sons, Mark (Jessica) and Karl (Erica) Holiday; five stepchildren, David, Karen, Teresa, Leota, and Glen Keppard; one brother, Kevin Smith; two sisters, Shavonne Arbuthnot Wells and Marydia Breckenridge Jennings; two uncles, Rev. Dr. Willie Jones and Ralph Chapman; four aunts, Helen Jones, Orcola Jones, Thelma Jones, and Ann Jones; two grandsons, Amarion and Markus Holiday, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 4230 S. Broad Ave, New Orleans, LA 70125. Visitation period from 9:30am-10am. Service at 10am.
