Melinda Ann "Buggy" Broden Obituary (1965 - 2021)

"Don't let your heart be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am." John 14:1-3 Melinda Ann Broden, affectionately known as "TBug" or "Buggy", was called to her heavenly home on October 29, 2021. She was a life-long resident of Saint James, LA. She was born to the union of the late Thomas Broden, Sr. and RoseMary Broden. Melinda accepted Christ into her life at the age of 28 at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. She later worshiped at Mt. Calvar and Buena Vista Baptist Churches. She was a graduate of St. James High's class of 1985. Melinda was always a hard and dedicated worker. She worked at Ralphs Supermarket for many years until her health failed. Buggy loved her New Orleans Saints. It was always "black & gold" win or lose. She would stop anything to go watch the SAINTS. Buggy had a heart of gold and was loved by many. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends, especially her grandkids. She would give you the clothes off her back. Buggy taught her family & kids many lessons in the kitchen; she was especially everyone's go-to for pecan candy. She had a frequent choice of words, "If you knew her, you know what I mean." Melinda was a devoted mother to her children, Dacien (DC) Broden, Sr., De'Shaunnisha (Noonie) Broden, and the late Donrielle (Donnie) Broden, Sr. She was supportive, caring, and always put them first. She was their backbone throughout life, a great cook, and a wonderful provider. Despite her illness, she never gave up and fought a great fight. Buggy made sure she spent her days & time well with her love ones. She loved to be with her Siamese twin. Her kids made sure she was taken care of even in her final days. She will be truly missed by many. Melinda leaves to cherish her great memories, two children, Dacien Broden, Sr., and De'Shaunnisha Broden; mother, RoseMary Broden; siblings, Sandra Broden, Carl Broden, Adrain (Kenneth) Thompson, Stacy (Sandtrell) Broden, Justin (Janel) Broden, and Ashley Broden; grandchildren, Da'Shaun, Sanyra, Zya, Donrielle Jr., Dacien Jr., Madison, Ryan, and Tru Broden; Godchild, Braylon Broden, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Melinda was preceded in death by her son, Donrielle Broden Sr.; grandson, Calvin Dennis; father, Thomas Broden Sr.; maternal grandparents, Freddie Sr. and Dorothy Anderson; paternal grandparents, Walter and Viola Broden; brother, Thomas Broden, Jr.; and sister, Nancy Broden. Services for Melinda Ann "Buggy" Broden will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11am at Buena Vista Baptist Church, 10633 LA-18, Saint James, LA 70086. Visitation period will be held from 9-11am. Interment to follow at St. Luke Baptist Church Cemetery in Moonshine.
