Melvin James Landry, Sr. of St James, LA passed away at home on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the age of 70. Born on October 13, 1951, to the late Paul Landry, Sr. and the late Angelia Temple Landry. Father of Melvin James Landry, Jr. (Jacqueline), and Marlon Jevon Landry (Nyra); husband to Patricia Batiste Landry; and brother of Willie June Landry, Sr (Angela). He leaves to cherish his memories three grandchildren: Marin Elizabeth Landry, Melvin James Landry, III, and Ella Rose Landry, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.\n\nMelvin is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Paul Landry, Jr., Martha Essex, Furman Landry, and Dianne Landry. Melvin was a resident of St. James, LA for 42 years, and he held a career in the construction industry for nearly 50 years.\n\nMelvin was an energetic and passionate person who always focused on loyalty and commitment to family. He enjoyed checking in on his sons regularly and always expressed concern for the well-being of his immediate and extended family.\n\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church, 6613 LA-18, Saint James, LA 70086. Visitation from 12:30pm-1:45pm. Mass will begin at 2pm. Entombment to follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, 2349 LA-18, Edgard, LA 70049.
