Michael C. Lumar (Big Money Grip)

Michael Clarence Lumar, affectionately known as "Big Money Gripp", entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at his home in Edgard, LA at the age of 72, with his wife by his side.

Michael was born on February 19, 1952, in New Orleans, LA. He was the son of the late James Sr. and Marjorie Johnson Lumar. He was the husband of Cecile Julian Lumar for 28 years, and together for 37 years. To this union, 4 children were born: Quinncena (Kevin) Smith of Laplace, LA, Jerome (Latoya) Julian of Killeen, TX, Jarita (Derrace) Moore of Algiers, LA, and Jarvis Lumar of Edgard, LA; brother of: Mary Ann (Nathaniel) Walker, James (Linda) Lumar, Jr., and a brother in love, Isaac (Darnell) Jackson, Sr.

Michael was a graduate of Second Ward High School's class of 1971.

Michael is survived by his wife: Cecile Julian Lumar; children; 1 sister; 1 brother; 10 grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, Godchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Michael worked at Avondale Shipyard and held numerous other jobs in his lifetime. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Relatives and friends of the family, Priests and Parishioners of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, 2349 LA-18, Edgard, LA 70049. Visitation beginning at 8AM. Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9Am. Mass will begin at 10AM. Interment to follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery. Final care and professional services entrusted to Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 East Airline Hwy., Gramercy, LA 70052.
