Niki Jessie Obituary (1972 - 2022)

On September 13, 2022, Niki was summoned to be with the Lord in her heavenly home with her beautiful mother. Niki Ann Jessie was born on November 9, 1972 to the union of Jimmie Joseph Jessie and the late Avis Ann Alexander- Jessie. Niki was a native of Vacherie, LA and resident of Wallace, LA. She was a 1990 graduate of St. James High School, and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. She was baptized at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Vacherie, LA by her Godparents Nancy Dumas and the late Glen Goudia, Sr. Niki had a passion for helping troubled youth. She was a Youth Engagement Specialist at LaFourche Juvenile Justice Center in Thibodaux, LA. Twenty-eight wonderful years of dedication and compassion, and a phenomenal employee until the end. Fourteen years ago, God blessed Niki with the most precious gift, a baby boy, Collin Jessie, who was her greatest joy. They spent countless moments going to the movies, eating out, and traveling, memories that Collin will get to treasure forever. Anyone who knew Niki knew her to be one of the most humble, patient people you could ever meet. Her big heart and giving spirit made it so easy to love her. A total neat freak who kept everything in its appointed place. She was always honest and had a very humbling spirit and personality. Niki had a very special relationship with her family. She revered the time spent with her mother's family including her aunts Margo Lumar and Demetre Bailey, whom she held very close to her heart and loved dearly; and her uncles Nathaniel and Grant Walker. Niki also enjoyed her time with her father's relatives, including her aunt, Elnoria and uncles, Leroy, Harold, and Johnny Jessie. She also held dear the time spent with her cousins and closest friends. She spent many loving hours on the phone with her father that were filled with laughter and discussing family and friends. Time stood still when Jessie was around his baby girl. He loved her endlessly and she loved him just the same.The time spent together and moments shared are something Jessie will truly be miss. She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Avis Jessie; grandparents, Marshall and Lynwood Walker; aunts, Rose Mary J. Harry, Rose Annie J. Woods, Cynteia Jessie, and Eva E. Jessie. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving son and best friend, Collin Jessie; father, Jimmie Jessie, stepmother Florence Jessie; stepsister, Semeco Breaux; aunts, Margo (Helmond) Lumar, Demetre (Kerry) Bailey, and Elnoria J. Narcisse; uncles, Leroy Jessie, Harold (Evelyn) Jessie, Johnny Jessie, Nathaniel (Mary) Walker and Grant (Jacqueline) Walker. She is also survived by her Godchild Zaria Favorite, and a host of host of cousins, relatives and friends. A public visitation will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 E. Airline Hwy., Gramercy, LA 70052 from 5PM-7PM. Relatives, friends, co-workers, the St. James High's Class of 1990, also Priest and members of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie, LA, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and surrounding churches, employees of Lafourche Parish Juvenile Justice, are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 10AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2349 LA-18, Edgard, LA 70049. Visitation will be held from 8AM-10AM. Recitation of Rosary at 9AM. Father Robustiano Morgia, celebrant. Entombment to follow at Church Mausoleum.
