Oglethorpe "OJ" Jackson, a resident of New Orleans, LA. passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021 at the age of 73. He was born on September 22, 1947 to the union of the late Rita and Mitchell Jackson Sr. After attending Second Ward High School in Edgard, LA., he volunteered to enlist in the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War. After returning home from the war, he attended Southern University of Baton Rouge where he majored in Computer Programming. He then spent most of his years working in the Petrochemical Industry as a computer programmer and lab technician until retiring. \nOglethorpe "OJ" leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted children Olando Jackson and Quarcia Joseph, his grandchildren Ohanna Jackson, My'Kel Chapman and Ma'Khy Joseph, his siblings Peggy Alexander, Maxine Thomas, Consuella Bouie, Fernand Jackson Sr., Winston Jackson, Robert Jackson, and Samuel Jackson and a God-daughter Oneka Wiltz. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Jacquelyn Jackson, Augusta Fonville, Mitchell Jackson Jr., and Anthony Jackson. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday June 26, 2021 for 11:00 am at Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 E. Airline Highway, Gramercy, LA 70052. A public visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by a Recitation of the Rosary for 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Woodville Cemetery in Wallace, LA.
