According to God's perfect will on September 8, 1964 in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana,\nRachel Red became the second child born to Clarence Brooks and Laura Burke. She embraced joy and\nlaughter among her siblings Yvette, Judy, Henry, Terry, Jason, Michaleen and Troy.\nRachel accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age and was a member\nof St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she made her First Communion and Confirmation. She\ncompleted her high school requirements at West St. John High School in Edgard, LA.\nAfter completing high school education, she went on to further her education in business\nadministration at the University of Nicholls State. Shortly after leaving Nicholls, she went on to get her\ncertification as a nursing assistant and began working as a CNA at Luling Nursing Center, where she worked until she became ill. She had a great love for her children Rodney, Ryan and Ria whom she adored greatly. Early on Sunday Morning, June 16, 2019 at Luling Living Center, Rachel heard the gentle bidding of an angel dispatched by God saying, "Enter into the Master's Joy." She departed this earthly life for her eternal home, willing rather to be absent from the body and present with the Lord.\n(2 Corinthians 5:8). Through God's grace she lived 54 gracious years. As those who knew her can attest, she was loving, caring and devoted her life to the well-being of her family. Rachel enjoyed saying the rosary, traveling, shopping, listening to gospel, going to the movies and enjoying family and friends.\nShe leaves to cherish her loving memory her mother, Laura Burke, two sons and one daughter; Rodney, Ryan and Ria Red; six siblings, Yvette Burke Ezeburio, Judy Burke, Henry Burke(Dorothy), Terry Lyn William(Marlon), Jason Burke, Michaleen Brooks and Troy Burke(Juliette); three uncles; Steven Burke(Rita), Morgen Burke Sr.(Brenda) and Clifford Bailey Sr.; three grandchildren, Brandon, Demetris and Ryan Jr. Rachel was preceded in death by her father Clarence Brooks, grandparents Irving, Sr. and Viola Burke; four aunts, Fellomae Burke Bailey, Barbara Burke, Ethel Burke, Rosemary Mitchell Burke; one uncle, Irving Burke Jr. and a cousin, Thaddeus Burke, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins. and friends.\nThere will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. 2361 Highway 18 - Edgard, Louisiana 70049.
