Our beloved Richard, affectionally known as "Darryl," "Gambino," and "Gino" was called to his eternal home on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Richard was born to Richard Gathers, Sr., and Janice Quarles Gathers on February 19, 1979, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a native of Laplace, Louisiana. He was also a resident of New Orleans, Metairie, and Kenner, Louisiana. \n\nRichard "Darryl" Gathers, II accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Fred Luter, Jr. at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. \n\nRichard was educated in the Oklahoma City School District, New Orleans School District, and St. John the Baptist Parish School District where he loved playing basketball. As time progress, he studied Electrical Engineering and Business at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He also studied Electrical Engineering at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, Louisiana. Soon after, he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Argosy University in Atlanta, Georgia in 2014. \n\nRichard was a strong, efficient worker and worked several jobs until he became a Freelance Marketing Agent. As time progressed, in 2016, he became a Freight Broker and Forwarder at A-1 Freight Logistics. In 2018, he established the Second Line Tax Service. Later, in 2020, he became the CEO of Richardson Group, LLC. of Kenner, Louisiana. \nRichard love life and people. He had a very outstanding personality. He really believed that love is patient and kind. His love for his children, parents, brothers, fiance, nieces, and nephews was unmeasurable. He was an outstanding father who was truly devoted to his children! Richard will always be remembered as the kind-hearted person that loves to give; especially to those who were underprivileged. He also loved talking to others by sharing educational information that he had researched and studied concerning business, relationships, or health. Being a person full of compassion, he always wanted to make sure everyone was ok. Richard loved cracking jokes, laughing, buying different cars, playing video games, collecting colognes, dressing up with a watch to match his outfit, watching "The Office" and "WWE Wrestling," going to the beach, movies, and zoo. He also loved walking in the park and French Quarters. Moreover, Richard loved attending family gatherings, listening to music, eating food, reading, traveling, observing nature and spending quality time with his dog named "Zira." \n\nRichard will be missed; deeply! He leaves to cherish his memories, his parents; Richard Gathers, Sr. of Laplace, Louisiana and Janice Q. Gathers of Metairie, Louisiana, his brothers; Gregory (Candace) Gathers of Prairieville, Louisiana, and Ricardo (Bria) Gathers of Dallas, Texas, his children; D'Angelo Gathers of Laplace, Louisiana, Notoria Gathers of Laplace, Louisiana, Jordan Crenshaw of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Khalil Fields of California, his fiance (love of his life); Kesha Carter of Laplace, Louisiana, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.\nRichard was proceeded in death by Deborah Quarles (aunt), Audrey Quarles (grandmother), Olivia Quarles (great-grandmother), Jacob Allison Quarles (great-grandfather), Alina Dingle Sanders (great-grandmother), Frances Stinney Shannon (grandmother), Debois Scotty Gathers (uncle), and Roderick Bailey (cousin/best friend). \n\nA celebration of life honoring Richard "Darryl" Gathers II will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at New Zion Christian Center, 216 W Main St., Gramercy, LA 70052. Visitation period will be held from 9am-11:30am. Final tributes by family and friends at 11:30am. Private burial.
