On Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge LA, the Angel of the Lord came down from Heaven and said: "My child, your suffering days are now over and it's time for your reward, your Heavenly home awaits you."\n\nSamuel Gordon, Jr. was born to the union of Evelyn Goudia Gordon and Samuel Gordon, Sr. on December 16, 1950. Sammy was the fourth child born into this loving home, in which six more siblings would later arrive. He knew love and thrived on it. He showed love wherever he went. \n\nHe preferred being called Sammy G or Sammy. He was also lovingly known as Junior. Sammy was baptized at an early age at Woodville Baptist Church in Wallace, LA by Rev. Wilkerson N. Grant. He later joined membership with First Community Antioch Baptist Church in Lutcher, LA under pastorship of the late Pastor Ferdinand Gaines, Jr. He was educated in the St. John The Baptist Parish School System. \n\nSammy loved his family. Being ill himself, he continually prayed for his nephew and was always concerned about his recovery. That was the type of person he was. He had a free spirit and a heart of gold. He loved outdoor cooking with his family. Sammy was also a charmer and a very sharp dresser. His signature hat completed his outfits. \n\nSammy leaves to cherish his precious memories his children: Kristen (Edward) Williams, Jr. of Vacherie, LA, Malani ( Major) Gilmore of New Iberia, LA., Dr. Lindsey (Elliot ) Brown of Memphis, TN, Ashley Jackson ( Keith Mathieu, Jr.) of Laplace, LA and Danielle Jackson of Vacherie, LA; a devoted companion, Ryan Miller of Wallace, LA; siblings, Paulette (Frederick) Joseph, Gerald (Judith) Gaudia, Sr., Min. Emelda (Donald) Saul all of Wallace, LA, Kevin Gordon Sr. (the late Janel) of St. James, LA, Nelson (Debra) Gordon of Laplace, LA, Sherman (O'Kathleen) Gordon of Luling, LA, Darrell (Lisa) Gordon of New Iberia, LA, and Shanna (Kirk) August and Louanda (Gregory) Scott of San Antonio, TX; adopted sister Lisa (Samuel) Johnson, Milwaukee, WI; foster sisters, Sabrina (Brian) Lewis Jr. of Prairieville, LA, Jessica Sumlin of Arabi, LA and Renata Tyler of Thibodaux, LA; grandchildren: Brandi Keller, Ashanti Keller, Amaya Keller, Kiante Kaiser, Destiney Kaiser, Vincent Kaiser and Martez Gilmore, Zaria Brown, Amina Brown, Azyree Jackson, Kei'Nyree Mathieu, Jayden Jackson, Jayce Jackson; six great-grandchildren; goddaughter Louanda Scott; aunts Clara Gaudet of Edgard, LA and Leah Stewart of Marrero, LA, devoted friends and cousins Dale Gordon, Jerome Jackson, Michael Jones, and host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.\n\nSammy was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Goudia Gordon and Samuel Gordon Sr., brother Isaac Gordon, niece Kendra Rae Stennett, nephew, Gary Gaudia, Uncle Charles Gaudin, and great nephew Ja'Naris Malik Gaudia, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.\n\nThere will be a walk-through visitation on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 4pm-6pm at Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 E Airline Hwy, Gramercy, LA 70052.\n\nThere will be a private family service for Samuel on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Vacherie, LA. Interment at Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery in Wallace, LA.
