Sandra Sylvain

–

Edgard, Louisiana

Sandra Jean Adams Sylvain, a beloved mother, sister, and matriarch whose life was defined by faith, devotion, and the enduring strength of the River Parishes, entered eternal rest on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on August 19, 1943, Sandra was the cherished daughter of Elizabeth (Isabella Martha) Gauthier Adams and Abraham Adams Sr. of Wallace, Louisiana. Sandra’s life began with both blessing and heartbreak. Her mother passed shortly after her birth, and in that moment of profound loss, two remarkable women stepped forward to raise her: Aunt Josephine Adams and Aunt Malvina Adams. Their unwavering love and guidance shaped Sandra’s character, instilling in her the values of resilience, humility, and deep familial loyalty that she carried throughout her life.

Growing up in Wallace and Edgard, Sandra became part of a lineage of strong River Parish women whose strength held families together. She moved through the world with grace — never loud, never boastful, but always present, always steady, always giving.

Sandra later married Warner Allen Sylvain, and together they built a life rooted in commitment, community, and the shared pride of their heritage. She became the heart of her household, raising her children with the same tenderness and discipline that had been poured into her. Sandra remembered every birthday, every milestone, every detail that made her family feel seen and loved. She kept her children connected to their roots in Edgard and Wallace, ensuring that the stories, values, and legacy of their ancestors remained alive.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Sandra was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she served faithfully as a religious instructor. Through her teaching, she passed on the prayers, traditions, and spiritual grounding that had shaped her own life. Her quiet ministry touched generations of children, and her commitment to the Church reflected the strength of her belief and the generosity of her spirit. Sandra’s gentle humor, her wisdom, and her unwavering love made her a pillar to her children, her extended family, and all who were blessed to know her.

Sandra is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Warner A. Sylvain, whose steadfast love and partnership were the foundation of her life. She is also survived by her loving children Vincent Sylvain, Ingrid Oubre (Davis), Margo Lumar (Helmond), Joannie Sylvain, Tamera Sylvain, Stacey Cador (Timithoy), Jill Martin (Jeffrey), Joy Major (Bobby), Kerri Brooks (Duane), and Kelly Sylvain, each of whom carries forward her legacy of strength, faith, and devotion. She is also survived by her brother Kebin Adams, and by her brothers-in-law Richard Sylvain (Barbara), Robert Sylvain (Dora), Donald Sylvain, Michael Sylvain, and her sister-in-law Audrey Sylvain, all of whom remained connected to her through family and shared history. She leaves behind to cherish her memory eleven grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, and five great- great-grandchildren.
