Shanda Faye Simon Carter, affectionately called "MaMe" by her grandkids peacefully entered eternal life at Ochsner Medical Center on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 1:35 p.m. Shanda heard the voice of God saying, "I am the resurrection and the life, those who believe in me will live even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."\n\nShanda was born on September 21, 1957 in New Orleans, LA to the late Wilfred Douglas and Una Mae Cambre. She was the loving sister of the late Wilfred Jr. "Mega", April Conrad, Cyril, and Kevin. Early in life, Shanda professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized by the late Reverend Samuel Jones who was the Pastor of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Paulina, LA where she was a member until her death.\n\nShanda was raised in Paulina. She graduated from Lutcher High School in 1977. Shanda married the late Ronald D. Carter in 1999; they had been a happy couple since 1986. Shanda was a community mother and professional housewife. Sadly, Shanda became a widow in 2002. Later, she relocated to Reserve, LA where she spent her days watching her children grow. Her grandkids became her everyday agenda. When it came to solving problems and overcoming obstacles, Shanda was a pillar to her Reserve family. Shanda was a peace of mind for anyone who could deal with her strong personality, and she always gave an abundance of tough love. \n\nShanda's beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children, Kevin White (Dominique), Kieem White, Marcald Simon, Sr. (Deonegra), Kyron Simon, Rondell Carter, and RoShawn Carter; grandchildren, Quiarra, Kevin Jr., Kevianna, Kaldon, Khyheem, Khijay, Marcald Jr., Deleah, Rondez, and Royale; great granddaughter, Khadance; siblings, April Simon, Conrad Simon (Debbie), Cyril Simon, and Kevin Rivers (Cookie); nieces, Madison and McKenzie; nephews, Taylon, Tray, and Nathaniel; a close friend, Rosemary Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.\n\nShanda is preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred Simon, Sr. and Una Mae Cambre; husband, Ronald D. Carter; brother, Wilfred "Mega" Simon Jr.; nephew, Matthew Simon; and grandson, Rondell Carter, Jr. \n\nA public walk-through visitation will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 E Airline Hwy., Gramercy, LA 70052 from 6pm-8pm.\n\nA celebration of life honoring Shanda Faye Simon Carter will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Tchoupitoulas Chapel, 1022 LA-44, Reserve, LA 70084. Visitation period 9am-11am. Service at 11am. Pastor Lionel Murphy, Jr. officiating. Interment to follow at St. Michael Catholic Church Cemetery in Convent, LA.
