Vera Nelson Evans Clark

–

Vacherie, Louisiana

Vera N. Evans-Clark was the only biological child of Idell and Willie Jackson. She was born on July 18, 1954, in Tallulah, Louisiana. At the age of seven, her mother became the guardian of her six cousins, Manvel (Mary), Neada (Chick), John (Lucille), Ruby (Chester), Larry (Gail) and Sandra. The entire family resided in Tallulah, La. until adulthood.

Vera was a devoted Christian who gave her life to the Lord at the age of 8. She attended Wright Elementary, McCall Jr. High School and McCall Senior High School. She was awarded academic scholarships to Grambling State University, Southern University, and Southern University of New Orleans. Vera chose to attend Southern University where she studied Sociology, Psychology, and Business.

She was employed by Chevron Chemical Company where she held the positions of Administrative Assistant, Logistics Coordinator, and Procurement Supervisor. Vera worked in the Oil Refinery Business for 35 years.

With her first marriage God honored her with twins Terrence (Christine) and Tresa. In August 1997 she united in holy matrimony to Euris Clark and was blessed with two bonus sons; the late Chad (Jessica) and Dane (Stacey). From this blended family, six grandsons were born: Dylan, Donovan, Malcolm, Chad, Jr. Jordan, Dane, Jr.; and one great grandson Jace.

Vera was blessed to achieve many accolades in her personal, spiritual, and professional journeys. However, the one she most wanted to be remembered for was her service for the Lord. At the age of 16, she taught Sunday School, and at the age of 18, she lead the youth group. She also taught Discipleship hour and focused on the community by leading the Mission Ministry. She developed relationships with underprivileged families that transcended time. She was a member of the Prison Ministry, the Hospitality Ministry, and anywhere GOD allowed her to be of service. Her favorite saying was: “It’s all because of Him; It all belongs to Him; where would I be without the Lord.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Idell and Willie Jackson, Aunt Maude, cousins, Neada Trice, Angela Trice, and John Trice Jr, and bonus son, Chad Clark. She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband Euris Clark, her children, grandsons, great grandson, Terrence, Tresa, Dane, Jordan, Chad Jr, Dylan, and Jace, her wonderful extended family, and a host of friends. She saw herself as a biological relative to her friends and in-laws; as they all stood by her side until the end.
